DESCRIPTION:Reminder – Due to COVID-19 the pet licensing requirements have been amended. All cats and dogs (7 months or older) residing in the Borough are required to be licensed. The license is available through the Borough Clerk’s Office at 77 Main Street\, Stanhope during the hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm. Licenses require Proof of Rabies Vaccination and the vaccine must be effective until the last day of October 2020 or longer.  All pets must be licensed prior to May 30th.  After May 30th there will be a $5.00 per month\, per animal fine imposed beginning June 1st.

DESCRIPTION:Press Release\nMay 1\, 2020 \nOn April 28th \, 2020 Governor Murphy announced Executive Order 130 allowing\, not mandating\, municipalities to extend the grace period for second quarter taxes due May 1st \, 2020 from May 11th \, 2020 to June 1st \, 2020. \nThe Borough of Stanhope Governing Body at a special meeting held on May 1st \, 2020 has passed Resolution 089-20 which is extending the grace period of second quarter taxes\, not the due date.  Failure to pay by June 1st \, 2020 will result in interest accrual reverting back to the statutory due date of May 1st \, 2020.  The grace period for 3rd and 4th quarter remains unchanged. Second quarter taxes that have already been paid are non-refundable.

DESCRIPTION:FREE Rabies Clinic/Dog Licensing (In Hopatcong Borough) \nHopatcong Borough is hosting a Free DRIVE THRU Rabies clinic that will be held Friday\, May 29 from 10-1pm at the Senior Center (32 Lakeside Blvd.\, Hopatcong\, NJ 07843).   Stanhope Borough residents\, as well as residents of New Jersey\, are welcome to attend the clinic. \nTo maintain a safe experience for pets\, owners/handlers and the veterinarians administering vaccinations during this State of Emergency\, residents are being asked to adhere to following: \n\nResidents must come in a vehicle and remain in their vehicle at all times while waiting for their turn.\nAll residents MUST wear masks and practice social distancing while at the Clinic.\nDogs should be restrained with a non-retractable 6-foot leash or other safe control to allow a quick and unimpeded transfer to the veterinarian for vaccination.\nCats must be in a secured carrier to prevent escape.\n\nDue to the COVID-19 Pandemic\, the Stanhope Borough Rabies Clinic scheduled in April was cancelled and the pet license due date was extended until May 30\, 2020. \nAll dogs and cats residing in Stanhope Borough are required to have a valid license and current rabies vaccination. \nPlease submit your dog and cat license registration as soon as possible. The Mayor & Council have extended the deadline to June 30th to license your pets without paying a late fee. After June 30th a $5.00 per month\, per pet\, late fee will be charged. Payment must be by check or money order\, made payable to Stanhope Borough. You can send in the registration by mail or you may drop it off in the mail slot located on the front door of the municipal building.   The licenses will be processed and mailed back to you. This Primary Election will be conducted by Vote-By-Mail Ballots. \n(Click on the Bold Italicized Text to access information from the County Clerk’s Office.) \nPrimary Election Rescheduled to July 7\, 2020\nTo register to vote in New Jersey\, you must be a United States citizen\, at least 17 years of age\, (you must be 18 to vote)\, and a resident of your home county for at least 30 days before the next election. \nExecutive Order No. 144 requires the County Clerk to send all Democratic and Republican registered voters a Vote-by-Mail Ballot for the upcoming July 7 election. Ballots will be mailed on or around June 12th. \nThis Letter to Voters From County Clerk Jeff Parrott explains the changes to the Primary Election process. \nDue to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic\, voting in NJ Primary Elections will look different this year. Here is what voters need to know: \n\nGovernor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 144 on May 15\, 2020 which encourages voting by mail in the July 7\, 2020 Primary Election.\nThe order requires the County Clerk to send all Democratic and Republican registered voters a Vote-by-Mail Ballot for the upcoming July 7 election. Ballots will be mailed on or around June 12th.\nUnaffiliated registered voters will receive a special application to vote by mail from the County Clerk; if unaffiliated voters want to participate in the Primary Election they are encouraged to complete and return the application to the County Clerk\, instructing the Clerk which party’s ballot they want mailed. These applications will be mailed out in mid-June.\nAs per Executive Order No. 144\, the Clerk’s Office is providing a postage paid envelope for the return of Vote By Mail Ballots.\nVoters who don’t want to mail their ballot can choose to:\na) Hand deliver their ballot to the County Board of Elections; those ballots must be delivered to the board by 8 p.m. on Election Day; or\nb) Deposit their ballot in one of five secure drop boxes located throughout the county beginning June 16. The drop boxes will have daily pickups. The deadline to deposit your ballot in a drop box is 8 p.m. Election Day. Drop boxes will be available at:\n1. Vernon Township Municipal Building\n2. Hardyston Township Municipal Building\n3. Sparta Township Municipal Building\n4. Hopatcong Borough Municipal Building\n5. Newton Town Municipal Building\nVoters may not drop off their voted Mail-in Ballots at the polls on Election Day.\nVoters who go the polls on Election Day will be issued a Provisional Paper Ballot; only voters with disabilities will have access to ADA-accessible voting machines.\nThe number of polling places available to voters on Election Day will be limited. A list of polling places is available at www.sussex.nj.us.\nSince polling places have been reduced\, many voters will be assigned a new polling place just for the July 7 election. Normally\, voters receive a sample ballot 1-2 weeks prior to Election Day letting them know where their polling place is located. For this July 7 election\, instead of a sample ballot\, voters will receive a postcard/notice in the mail letting them know where their polling place is and where they can view a sample ballot.\nThe deadline of 3 p.m. July 6 to apply in person for a mail-in ballot is suspended.
