DESCRIPTION:The Annual Stanhope Community Tree Lighting will take place at Borough Hall\, 77 Main Street\, on Sunday\, December 3rd at 5:30PM.  Live holiday music will be provided by the Valley Road School Choir and Santa will make a guest appearance.  After the tree lighting\, walk down the street to the Presbyterian Church for more activities.  You can take your picture with Santa (please bring your own camera).   Enjoy hot cocoa and delicious cookies provided by the Stanhope Senior Citizens Group.  There will be holiday music and a dance party!  This event is sponsored by the Stanhope Recreation Commission. \n(Please note:  New this year\, Santa will be at the Presbyterian Church after the tree lighting for pictures. DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend the annual Halloween Parade on Saturday\, October 28th\, at 11:00AM (Rain or Shine).  The Parade will start at the corner of Church Street and Main Street.  The Parade will conclude at the Ambulance Squad (Please Note: This is a change from the original destination) where there will be games\, goodie bags and a costume contest.  The costume contest categories are as follows: \n\nNewborn – Age 2\nAge 3 – 4\nAge 5 – 6\nAge 7 – 8\nAge 9 – 10\nPETS (New this year! DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT LAKE MUSCONETCONG NOTICE – The annual temporary draw down of the lake is scheduled to start October 25th. The two foot reduction should be completed by November 1st and the lake will remain at that lower level for about a month. \nThe draw down allows for shoreline clean up and maintenance and repair of rock walls and permanent docks. If you have boats and floating docks to be removed we recommend this be done by October 25th\, as the first couple of days of draw down will be significant. \nPlease plan your activities accordingly.  Thank you.

DESCRIPTION:Lake Musconetcong Needs Your Help!  The Water Chestnut is an invasive aquatic plant species which needs to be hand-pulled annually from Lake Musconetcong.  The Water Chestnut depletes oxygen in the water for aquatic life and makes it difficult to navigate the lake by boat.  Canoes and kayaks will be used to access the parts of the lake which cannot be reached with the weed harvester.  Water Chestnut is weakly rooted and easily removed by hand.  Join us on Saturday\, July 15th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. (Rain Date: Sunday\, July 16th) We will be meeting at Port Morris Park (23 Washington Street\, Landing\, NJ).  Please bring your kayaks and canoes\, life vests\, sunscreen and dress appropriately.  Participants must be 16 years old or older.  No experience necessary.  Last year approximately 10\,000 lbs of water chestnut was removed from the lake. \nContact Taran at 848-702-5819 or email: ambassador@musconetcong.org to pre-register.  Lunch will be provided.  This event is hosted by the AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador for the Upper Delaware Management Area and they are partnering with the Musconetcong Watershed Association\, the Lake Musconetcong Regional Planning Board\, Rutgers Cooperative Extension\, the Morris County Park Commission and the Hopatcong State Park.
