The Stanhope Environmental Commission would like to send a big shout out to a few of the members of the Byram Township Environmental Commission,  Byram Trail Keepers, and NY-NJ Trail Conference – Highlands Trail, who came to assist us on our project at our June 6th ANJEC grant work party.    We had a successful day of removing invasive species and working towards our goal on improving fishing access down by Furnace Pond.   Our day would not have been as successful without them and we are grateful for their assistance.   

 

About the Environmental Commission

The Environmental Commission actively protects our natural resources, promotes Open Space, and offers educational programs to our residents. Every year the Environmental Commission co-sponsors a Community Clean-Up Day together with the NJ Clean Communities Program.

This Commission works closely with the Lake Musconetcong Regional Planning Board, the Sussex County Soil Conservation District, the Sussex County Municipal Authority, and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection to ensure our natural resources are protected and preserved.

The Environmental Commission meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:30PM at the Stanhope Municipal Building, 77 Main Street.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Meeting Dates for 2026
In compliance with the Sunshine Act, NJ Assembly Bill No. 1030, the Stanhope Environmental Commission will hold its regular meetings for 2026 in the Municipal Building, 77 Main Street, Stanhope, New Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on the following dates:   January 8, February 12, March 12, April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 12, and December 10.  The annual Reorganization and Regular Meeting will be held on January 14, 2027.
